Here's what we covered.

On April 9, we hosted our first Ask Media Anything (AMA) with Salvador Rodriguez of CNBC, Natasha Mascarenhas of TechCrunch, and Laura Mandaro of Forbes. The recording is here for you to listen and access. Thank you to everyone for their great questions and participation. Businesses are waking up to a different world each day thanks to COVID-19. On Monday, you’re figuring out how to manage a remote, distributed workforce. On Friday, you’re explaining your path forward to your customers. In this webinar, participants learned how they can prepare to take on each day and leverage crisis communications tactics to stay above water during the coronavirus pandemic. Your media questions answered.

What stories are media interested in amid the COVID-19 crisis? Here were the high-level takeaways from the AMA:

  • COVID-19 is going to be a part of the narrative in the media for a while
  • Don't use COVID as a part of your pitch if it really doesn't work and isn't the crux of your news
  • Reporters are answering to folks who built relationships with them pre-crisis
  • If you're reaching out cold, there is hope!
  • The informal chats over coffee and drinks are not happening right now, so take the time to have your CEO, founders, or other executives build relationships with the reporter
  • What works for one reporter, doesn't work for other — Twitter DMs might work for one and email for another

Some reporters are expanding beyond their beats while others are writing about their current beats still
